The Barbian Athletics Approach
Hi, my name is Amanda Barbian, your local Los Angeles trainer! For as long as I can remember I've always had a passion for being active but not always being that healthy (I had a major sweet tooth). As I started to struggle with weight I learned so much about body recomposition, lifting weights, and macros, transforming my own body. I decided to do bodybuilding while heavily into endurance sport, competing in my first bodybuilding show (placing 1st) and doing my first triathlon only months apart. Learning about bodybuilding from the greats at Golds Gym Venice was a whole experience!
In my late 20s I started to deal with some health issues and later got diagnosed with some serious health conditions (Rheumatoid Arthritis and Lyme) so I dug deep into health. I learned as much as I could on my own, from doctors and also took some courses that helped me elevate my knowledge in optimizing health and healing the body. During that time I left my corporate job and transitioned to working with clients, getting them into the best shape of their lives.
Now my work is dedicated to high-performance personal training that blends strength, conditioning, functional movement, and health coaching. My approach is individualized, ensuring every client achieves their goals while building a resilient body capable of withstanding the demands of an active lifestyle. Over the last 10 years I have specifically focused on health coaching as well as biomechanics to make sure the approach I take accounts for someones lifestyle. Movement patterns are optimized working with the body and breath to help expand closed off and restricted body parts, prevent injuries, or overcome previous ones. I continue to learn and grow, and my latest area of research has focused on the foot.
